There is among all the wonderful stories circulating about Nora Ephron in the aftermath of her recent passing, the notion that she believed in neither a higher power — nor in an afterlife. One source said it's one reason that she kept her illness a secret. She didn't want to have to explain or justify this to anyone.

I often take notes while riding in taxis, listening to the experiences and perspectives of chatty drivers in various cities. This is an excerpt from 'My Neighbor's Faith: Stories of Interreligious Encounter, Growth, and Transformation.'

I flew into Syracuse, N.Y., on a windy evening in October of 2000. After we landed, I hailed a cab. This not being New York City, where I am from, there was no cab line, no wait and no time to look at the car I was jumping into.

I was thrilled to learn that this book is being used in groups that help grieving children. The concept of the invisible string seems like a version of Streaming Consciousness — in the way that it connects us all through the ethers, and via the heart!
