"Edith Ego" Is Having a Rough Time...

Edith Ego is refusing to go into "time-out." She's the thoughts in my head that are the most susceptible to the polarizing, divisive effects of encountering (and hearing about) folks who hold differing beliefs. Edith has a troubling need to make others wrong — for her to feel right. She wants to lower others — to elevate herself.

My authentic self is praying for all who carry the kind of fear that incites and leads to violence, for the families and victims in AZ, for those who will become further polarized by this tragedy, thereby fueling "them vs. us" perceptions — and for my Edith Ego as well.

Edith Ego

My Edith is also this way. She is stunned with disbelief that anyone can act in these outrageous ways. She finds it difficult to experience the Living Mystery of it all. The Mystery that each of these souls has a path and all paths wind perfectly together for Good within the Living Mystery of Life.

My Edith can glimpse (given enough stillness) that only as these two paradigms of Being collide and conflict can more souls experience the need to choose which side of the Being fence they will stand. When I quiet my Edith I know in my heart that the "100th Monkey" threshold has already been met and we have already shifted the planet and the One Mind into the new paradigm. It is exactly this type of senseless violence that allows us an opportunity to open our minds and hearts to the truth of the planetary shift, that this old belief system is no longer viable or desireable.

There are no words that can describe the depth of sacrifice made by all in AZ, a sacrifice that has been made in our names, for us to choose and learn and grow. Honor these souls' sacrifice, choose wisely. Proudly stand on Love's side of the fence.

I, also, pray for my Edith, and for the families, and for our planet.
